The barque OREGON, 521 tons - 1851 voyage to South Australia

from Plymouth 12 - 07 1851 with Captain Williams,
arrived Port Adelaide on October 31st, 1851 with 363 Government emigrants

LETTER OF APPRECIATION: To Captain William H. Williams of the ship OREGON, October 30th, 1851.
HONOURED SIR - We the UNDERSIGNED, in consequence of the uniform kindness and condescension manifested towards us,
as also the good order and regularity which your tact, justice and decision as preserved during the journey
from Plymouth to Adelaide,

We hereby wish to return you our sincere thanks for the same. We would also espress our entire satisfaction with the regularity
and equity maintained in the daily issue of provisions, likewise the quality of the same. Nor can we here omit to mention your kindness
in giving us the use of the school-room each night to all who wished to attend for prayer and the reading of the Sacred Scriptures;
in short, we feel we have been priviledged, preserved and care for, not only in a temperal but also in a moral and spiritual sense,
beyond our most sangune expectations.
This letter was signed by virtually all the passengers, and published in the South Australian REGISTER Newspaper (November 12, 1851).
