Bat used by Bradman in scoring the then world record score in first-class cricket of 452 not out, N.S.W. vs Queensland, Sydney, January 1930. Writing in My cricketing life, (London: Hutchinson, 1930) Bradman says of this bat: ÎIt was a beauty, but not quite so sweet as the other, (which scored 334 in 1930) possibly because it had an extraordinarily wide grain. I frequently find that sweetness and a narrow grain go hand in hand.â
