Trim, the Captain's Cat - teachers notes

Trim, the Captain's Cat is the first collaboration between the State Library of South Australia and the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust - an exciting new arts initiative for young people.

Trim is the story of a brave seafaring cat, who in the company of Captain Matthew Flinders, circumnavigated Australia in the years 1799-1804.

Based upon the adaptation of the book Trim written by Matthew Flinders, the education kit is designed to provide teachers with background information on the production and teaching ideas to support the Trim, The Captain's Cat work in progress presentation and exhibition (Stage 2) to be held at the Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre on 4 -5 April 2002.

Additionally, teachers may find the education kit of general interest, if focussing on Encounter 2002 celebrations and Captain Matthew Flinders "Voyage of Discovery". The education kit level is for Years 4-7, but could be adapted by teachers for use in the middle year bands.

The State Library's Information for Teachers webpage provides contact details for the Education Programs Librarian and lists teacher resources.
