State Library of South Australia

Accessing hardcopy newspapers

Recent issues of newspapers (South Australian, national and international) are kept in the Ron Boland Newspaper Area and can be photocopied, and microfilm versions can be read and copied from a Reader-Printer.

The Library also holds back-issues of many newspapers that have ceased publication, or are no longer received for various reasons. These older issues in hardcopy are read in the Somerville Reading Room, and may only be copied with permission, through the Library's Copy Centre.

The older hardcopy issues are in storage on-or-offsite and must be retrieved. This can take between one hour to four days, depending on time of request and location of the newspaper, so it is best to telephone in advance on (08) 8207 7250 to request issues to be retrieved.
