Learning programs at the State Library are designed to be linked to key learning outcomes and complement the current Australian Curriculum. These programs have been created to connect learners with the rich history, collections, spaces and exhibitions of the State Library of South Australia.

Students will discover the stories of South Australia and the role of the State Library in collecting, preserving and sharing the history of South Australia and develop important life skills or research, inquiry and analysis techniques using a variety of sources.

From Outback to Outer Space: Woomera 1955-1980 self guided experience

Visit to take a closer look at an exciting new exhibition From OUtback to Outer Space: Woomera 1955-1980.

Exhibition Date: 23 August - 12 November 2017

Suitability: years 4 to 7
Duration: 60 minutes
Days: Monday to Friday (closed Public holidays )
Times: Book for 10.30, 11.30 and 12.30 sessions. Walk in after 1.30pm
Resources: Collect 'Enquiry Cards' from Information desk, Level 1 Spence Wing

The State Library has a range of resources both online and hard-copy that can support students with SACE projects. This session introduces students to these resources and how to access them.

Learning opportunities explained

Each learning opportunity offered, stands alone. We are offering several different opportunities but they are not a series.

  • Opportunity 1: Introduces groups of students to a range of State Library resources with a focus on specific curriculum subjects.
  • Opportunity 2: Designed to engage learners with the roles, stories and collections of the State Library. These programs are aligned to ACARA and the Teaching for Effective Learning Framework.
  • Opportunity 3: Guided experiences are designed to introduce groups of students to specific aspects throughout the library.
  • Opportunity 4: Unlock the past and discover the future with one of the State Library of South Australia's new Digital literacy programs
