Belonging is a program that engages learners in an exploration of the concept of belonging and the ways that we nurture and are nurtured by environments and communities. Learners will use primary and secondary source material from the State Library collections to examine places that have changed over time.

Key inquiry questions

  • What does it mean to belong?
  • How do people contribute to their communities?
  • How and why do environments change over time?
  • How do people and environments influence one another?

Teaching for Effective Learning principles strongly underpin this learning experience, which is aligned with the Australian Curriculum, with a particular emphasis on the learning area of:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences: History and Geography and the general capabilities of literacy, intercultural understanding and creative thinking.

Tool and materials are provided free of charge by the State Library of South Australia.
