Wheelchair and stroller access

Access to the Spence Wing first floor and the Mortlock Wing is via the lift in the glass foyer entrance of the library.

Access to the Institute Building is via the external ramp on the Kintore Ave entrance or via the internal ramp between the Institute Building and the Spence Wing (opposite the Treasures Wall).

Parking

There is on-street disabled parking available in the nearby roads. View more information and maps of Adelaide City Council's Disability parking for permit holders.

Services

Many of our services are available online for those people who cannot visit the library in person. Additionally, we have a range of adaptive technology to increase accessibility options. This includes:

  • magnifying closed-circuit television (CCTV) to increase the text size of books and newspapers. It can also reverse black on white text to assist legibility
  • handheld scanner that magnifies material onto a large screen television
  • height adjustable tables.

Staff at the Information Desk can assist with these facilities. If you need special assistance or information, we can refer you to agencies who can help.
