World War 2: records of the Home Front

20 June at 1 to 2pm

The National Archives holds many records relating to WW2 but this talk focuses on two different series of records that are significant resources for those interested in family history and the Home Front in South Australia. The first are Army pay files that give us an insight into the experience of those who served both abroad and at home; the second relates to the internment of enemy aliens and Prisoners of War at camps like Loveday. Both sets of records powerfully demonstrate the effects of conflict on civilian lives and the volunteer forces.
