South Australian newspapers on Trove – what the statistics say

Trove, an online tool, helps you find resources relating to Australia, such as historic newspapers, journals, books, pictures, photos, music, maps, diaries and much more. This content is gathered from libraries, museums, archives and other research organisations.

Digitised newspapers on Trove are very popular. There are over '100 million newspaper articles, documenting more than 150 years of Australian history' (Trove website).

Statistics recently released by the National Library of Australia show that up until 30 June 2015, just over 1.9 million pages of South Australian newspapers have been made available online. Also, there have been just over 6.2 million page views of South Australian newspaper content in 2014-2015.

  • The Advertiser (1889-1954)
  • The Chronicle (1895-1954)
  • The South Australian Register (1839-1900)
