Donating to the Mortlock Library of South Australiana

The State Library collects material which adds to the documentary evidence of our state. The Mortlock Library of South Australiana is the world centre for South Australian material in all formats and language and of any age. It collects both published and archival material which is predominantly South Australian in content, or is by or about South Australians. Some examples of the types of material include:

  • letters, diaries and reminiscences

  • photographs and artworks

  • movie films, videos and sound recordings

  • oral histories

  • maps and architectural drawings

  • records of businesses and organisations

  • "ephemera" such as posters, theatre programs, postcards, menus or exhibition catalogues

  • books, magazines and newspapers
