Bringing new life to handwritten archives. Our thousands of handwritten letters, diaries and minutes of meetings tell the deep and detailed story of South Australia. The 19th century cursive handwriting in these is notoriously difficult to decipher. In our transcription program, skilled volunteers unravel the cursive and produce legible, searchable online documents. A selection of the originals of these documents have been digitised and can be viewed online. You will discover the diversity of these materials, find out how the transcription program works and might even consider joining our team working from home.
