We, librarians, are a tenacious lot, and so it will take more than the temporary closure of our beautiful buildings to keep us from answering your questions!

Whilst we don’t have access to all of our collections at this time, there is still a lot we can do for you including:

  • tell you about the State Library collections, and the services we offer
  • help you get the most out of searching our catalogue, digital collections and databases from home
  • issue (or update) a library card to allow home access to our databases
  • point you to relevant library guides compiled on your area of interest
  • take orders for high-resolution copies of our digitised collections.

And of course, answer your reference questions using all of the resources available to us, and a dash of that famous tenacity.

Since the State Library closed its doors temporarily in March, our experienced team have been kept busy continuing to support our customers with their studies, work and many interests. It’s great to know that we have something meaningful to offer South Australians at this time.
