Opportunity 1- STEM Research and the State Library

Time: 10 to 11.30am

Location: Meet in the ground floor glass foyer

Note: Sessions are free, bookings essential

The State Library aims to support the STEM pursuits of students by using the Library's range of educational resources both online and in hard copy. This session introduces students to these authoritative resources and how to access them.

Suitability: years 8 to 10
Duration: up to 90 minutes
Capacity: up to 30 students

The session covers

  • an orientation to Library spaces, services and resources
  • how to access quality online journal articles and local and international newspapers from home through a range of databases
  • learning to effectively navigate the Library's catalogue which is the key to finding resources held in the Library, including reference material such as books, eBooks, pamphlets, newspapers, films, sound recordings and maps as well as South Australiana
  • library guides which have been developed to provide research assistance, subject guides and pointers to useful resources.
