Temporary closure of the Mortlock Chamber
Stephanie Mylan, writer and creator
Whether you're looking for a launch pad into performance writing or looking to develop your skills, join Stephanie Mylan for an interactive workshop to nail the craft.
Performance writing is the art of combining written work and how it’s delivered to create a piece that connects and engages with its audience. It’s more than reading one’s work out loud and focuses on the experience of both the writer as well as the audience. Spoken word poetry, theatre and play scripts are just some examples of performance writing and the many ways writing can blend into live performance.
No prior experience to writing or performing is necessary to participate in the workshop. This is an inclusive space designed for all skill levels and backgrounds.
Stephanie Joy Mylan is the honeydew in your morning tea. As a lesbian Filipino writer and creator, she seeks to explore the many multitudes of connection, love and sensuality. Her list of features and contributions for creative spaces involving The Gathered Sound, Draw Your Swords, The Art Gallery of South Australia, Jauma Fest, Feast Festival, Writers SA’s Context Festival and Splinter Journal, highlights that she is no stranger to performing or expanding her craft into multiple creative forms. While spoken word poetry has become Stephanie’s main creative discipline, she navigates her life with a reverence that art is all encompassing and deeply collective.
