Writer and actress Thistle Anderson, better known as Mrs Herbert Fisher, was one of Australia’s most talked-about women at the turn of the twentieth century.

She delighted in rattling high society. From Melbourne to London, her scandals filled the social pages for years. Then in 1903 she arrived in Adelaide as the wife of stockbroker Herbert Fisher… and she was not impressed.
