Thank you for treating other customers, staff, library spaces and collections with care and respect. Please behave in a way that allows everyone to enjoy the library.
Please be considerate of others by behaving in a respectful, safe and lawful way while using the library. This includes no swearing, threatening or violent behaviour, and taking care of library spaces. For everyone’s comfort and safety, appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn.
You’re responsible for your personal belongings, please keep them with you. Supermarket trolleys, bikes, skateboards, and scooters are not permitted.
You’re welcome to take photos or videos for personal use while visiting the library, however please remember to ask permission before photographing or filming staff or other visitors. Help us to protect our collections by keeping the flash turned off.
Professional photography or filming can be arranged with prior approval. Wedding photography without prior approval is welcome in the Library's forecourt.
Our collections are for everyone to enjoy, please ensure they aren’t damaged by food or drink. Stay safe by keeping food and drink clear of electrical equipment.
To keep our spaces safe and welcoming for everyone, customers must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and must not bring prohibited substances into the library.
Alcohol may only be consumed in areas where it is expressly permitted as part of a licensed event.
Supervision by a parent or guardian is required for all children under the age of 12 years.
Please note that additional conditions of entry are in place for the Mabel Somerville Reading Room.
