Community Consultation meeting - United Aborigines Mission Archival Records
Invitation to attend the Community Consultation meeting
The State Library of South Australia recently received the following records from the United Aborigines Mission (UAM) Archive:
- Tanderra Hostel Register, 1964 – 1971
- Colebrook Register, 1941 – 1948
- Colebrook File cards, 1956 – 1978
- Oodnadatta Childrens Home, Admissions and Discharges, 1948 – 1964.
The State Library is seeking advice and feedback from the community of former residents and their descendants about how best to manage these records, and what access arrangements for research the community would like to see.
If you are a former resident of any of these institutions, you are invited to a community consultation meeting to discuss the records. Families may choose to nominate a representative when a former resident has passed or is unable to attend. We encourage you to bring a support person if you wish.
Access to the records will be provided for former residents and descendants registered to attend, so that informed decisions can be made.
