Some of the State Library's collection is stored offsite - unfortunately we can't store everything at the Library on North Terrace. These offsite collection materials will soon be relocated to the new Cultural Institutions Storage Facility.
To support this relocation, access to offsite material will temporarily pause to ensure a smooth and secure transition.
Key dates
- Final offsite collection access requests must be submitted via the Library's catalogue by 5pm Sunday 28 September.
- Requested materials will be available for use from 1pm Monday 29 September.
- Access to these materials will be until 5pm Sunday 5 October.
- No further access to offsite collection materials will be possible until mid-2026, after which the collection will be available by request from its new location.
What’s affected?
- Only collection materials stored offsite are impacted.
- Most requests are for items held onsite at the State Library, which will remain available as usual.
- You can check the storage location of collection material via the Library's catalogue.
- To check whether the materials you need are affected, please contact our friendly staff or submit an Ask Us enquiry.
- Some research queries submitted to the Library may be impacted. Library staff will work with you to identify alternative sources wherever possible.
We encourage researchers and library users to plan ahead for this temporary access interruption.
We sincerely apologise for any disruption this may cause.
More information about the new Cultural Institutions Storage Facility will be available soon.
