From March 2026, the State Library will support the final stage of the Cultural Institutions Storage Facility (CISF) project, an important initiative focused on the long‑term care and preservation of the collection.

The relocation of State Library collection material is now underway, requiring temporary reassignment of some of our staff. To support this work, access to onsite collection materials will temporarily change to a next day delivery service.

What’s changing?

  • From Tuesday 2 March 2026, onsite collection requests will move to a next day delivery service.
  • Requests submitted by 2pm on weekdays will be available by 10am the following day.
  • Material required for weekend access will need to be requested by Thursday for delivery on Friday.
  • This temporary change will remain in place until the CISF relocation work is complete – anticipated late June 2026.

What does this mean for you?

  • Researchers and library users are encouraged to plan ahead and submit requests as early as possible.
  • Some research queries that require urgent access to materials may be impacted.
  • Our staff will work directly with you to identify alternative sources wherever possible.

Access to offsite collection material remains paused as well during this time. Once this work is complete, same‑day delivery for onsite collection materials will resume.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake this important work to support the care and preservation of the State Library’s collections for future generations.
